Located in the west of Tian‘anmen Square, Great Hall of the People is fully completed in 1959 and is considered as one of the truly grand modern structures of Beijing. Its green and yellow glazed-tile roof and magnificent portico and colonnades create a solemn and immense image for this building.

Covering an area of 150,000 square meters, Great Hall of the People contains a main auditorium hall with 10,000 seats and a banquet hall with a capability of 5,000. Usually, it is the place where National People's Congress and important national conferences being held, recently some important cultural events even pop concerts also are presented here. But still no bags are allowed inside this building, people should have their bags deposited outside the East Gate of the Great Hall.
