Fan Tao, a  First Class National Conductor of China, graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied with the famous conductor and teacher Huang Xiaotong.. In 1995, he was appointed Resident Conductor of the China Film Symphony Orchestra under the auspices of the China Broadcasting Performing-Arts Troupe. Mr. Fan has worked with a variety of foreign and Chinese ensembles including  the Helsinki Symphony Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Avanti Chamber Ensemble of Finland, the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, the Oberlin Symphony Orchestra of the U.S., the Florida State University Chamber Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, the Florida Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and orchestras of the Shanghai Opera, the National Ballet of China and the China National Chinese Opera and Dance Drama Company.

Founded in 1949,with a history of fifty-four years,China Film Symphony Orchestra is one of the earliest national level musical organizations.
In the past fifty-four years, it has been taking an active participation in the world of music in China and has given numerous concerts introducing various best pieces.
